22nd November 2013 - Cop code, bankruptcy and winning stuff.

I was driving home across the bridge near my house when a car flashed its lights at me. That's odd, I thought, is my engine smoking or something? then shortly after another car coming onto me flashed their lights on and off at me. What? What the hell am I doing wrong? Sure enough, It finally clicks when I see a police officer monitoring traffic speed, and I remember my dad explaining to me when I was younger that this was some sort of code to let others know a cop was ahead. Haha. I love how its become this "Us vs Them" mentality. I wonder how many people have flashed to wrong car and it turned out to be an undercover? (thats not fair the citizen exclaims, you're cheating - your car wasn't even marked!) I don't know, could be a gag in my next movie I think.

Had a bankrupt customer today, we talked about how things came to that and how much better her husband was doing now that his business had folded and had a regular job where he didn't have to work 7 days anymore, a blessing in disguise. Hardship can be a turning point in most peoples lives where whats really important will rise itself to the occasion as a priority. In my own life when I was down and out pondering bankruptcy myself working at a low end wage job (video shop) it turned out to be a sobering and inspiring experience. I miss that place. Mainly the free movies though haha.

Morning meetings at work are generally about product knowledge and how to have business friendly conversations with our customers. But sometimes, like today, we have a little fun in the meeting, we all got into pairs and played a game of speed, where one of the pair would sort out a random deck of 20 cards into suits, and once done the other partner would sort the suits into descending order. We raced against another pair. We had a group round, then semis then finals and me and my partner won :) Simple thing, but it was morale boosting for me, who doesn't like finishing first? :) I collected my prize (a dipping sauce set) haha and went on to have a great day with great results target wise and with no problems or complaints. I love my boss, when I'm dead tired her enthusiasm re-energizes me...

Played futsal one night tournament too after work, phew! Fun :) a series of 10 minute games against 5 sided opposition, then we made the finals and won that too. Some might say I had a lucky day, but we all know we make our own luck :) Battle on!!

21st November 2013 - Thank you

Back to work today.

I sat in my car, finishing the last bars of 'Rapgod' before shutting the door gracefully and heading towards the bank. I had my mindset today, Yes I did! I was going to be efficient, ruthless, productive and be out of there by 5pm. I turned up, melted into Mr Nice guy again and did way more than I should have as usual, but thats why they hired me...they know I go the extra mile without intending, they know I smile when really I'm tired, they know I joke when all I want to do is curl into a ball and sleep. They. I. We. I do love my job, I get good satisfaction at the end of the day, especially as head teller like today. My brain's tired from all the mental gymnastics I achieved today, I feel like a little fireman running around trying to put all the minifires that keep popping up but you know what? I feel good. I had a conversation with one shy customer, who yelled out THANK YOU as she left, funny girl. Huh.

Unentertaining entry for today, but nothing else really happened today. A customer and her partner laid a complaint on my day off  because I told her last week that I can't give out an account holders name if she gives me a random account number, (she was trying to pay rent to someone- her landlord apparently) she should know who it is otherwise she could be committing fraud attempting to use someone else's account after receiving the information... I don't know them well enough to risk my job, please call your landlord if you cant remember their name even though you told me you'd been living there for sometime, does she sign contracts without reading them? We're open 7 days, the bag deposits dont get collected til late in the afternoon anyway so you have time...but she lost her shit and started abusing me (which changes the mind of no one, in fact it just increased my chances of not wanting to help her). I asked her to ssh as she was scaring other customer's who ACTUALLY banked with us then she said I'm going to lay a complaint about you and I said Ok, please wait while I get the form then they disappeared into the crowd to harass someone else no doubt. I tried but hey, you can't please everyone, nobody knows what they want, just ask god.

Anyway, I can't work there forever, got to build my money empire :) I better attempt finishing the plotting for my webseries I intend to shoot with Steve, I don't know if I can pull this off, but if I don't try, I'll never know. Hope everyone had a good day today. I lived today for this coming weekend :)

20th November 2013 - Football mad and Label launch

ENTRY #2- Procrastinate with a football.

I hope your day was more productive than mine, I started the groundwork for my clothing design business (the easy stuff, create a web presence etc) but no actual products yet. Like it if you want at www.facebook.com/MK86LTD. When I was a kid other kids and myself all thought I was good at art, I never pursued it because at the time I wanted a challenge. It seems crazy to waste a talent like that so it became the latest part of my 'make yourself a business' plan.  Do keep up to date by joining the page and you can be my judge :)

http://www.mk86.printpoppa.co.nz

I also watched the Portugal game, sprite and mini biscuits in hand, where Ronaldo showed the world why he's the best footballer on earth singlehandedly taking Portugal through to the world cup (and won me some money too! What a nice guy!) I multi tasked my sorting out my bills (god forbid I miss one) and sorted out my work notes (I have a stupid habit of writing down referrels on pieces of paper than at the end of the week my bag is full of these loose bits of paper like I collect leaves or something, At least now its all all in one place, on one piece of paper). I didn't end up working on my script again either. Bad Matt.

Played football for my wife's work team, The Bee's they call it. I joked to the wife that it wasn't very scary, why not killer bees or wasps? we may as well call ourselves the flowers...as for our performance today, we salvaged a 7 all score but I didn't bring my A game today, all burnt out I think, Rest tomorrow and back into it Friday night. Been thinking of starting a futsal league of my own, after all it seems similar to the GKR Karate set up, pay for the gym hire and equipment (if any) overheards and then recruit/ maintain and grow your league/classes. Welcome to my mind - Right now it's obsessed with building an empire of some sort. I'm supposed to be working on my feature script but I'm finding more and more creative ways to look the other way.

Watched the 2nd leg of the All whites game, so proud to see the boys put a couple past them. Still, I hope this builds a bright future for our next squad, it seems a missed opportunity to me, if they played the whole 2 legs like today's 2nd half, they would have gone through for sure. oh well, whats to be, is.

Work tomorrow. Yay (insert sarcasm here) Seriously though, I get Saturday off so 2 days of work can't be that bad. Just something convenient to get in the way of my action star dream. Now I'm going to spend the next 2 days looking forward to my day off. Like I said, I'm pretty sure you had a more productive day than mine ;)
I usually play football with some of my work friends on Wednesdays - this is from last week, I'm the guy in green in the middle, if  you were there you'd pick me out right away. Among the 23 or so chinese guys, I'm the odd one out lol. These guys are pretty good too so it's alot of fun :) (I have spent way too much time on football lately, just ask my sifu who i haven't trained with all year...speaking of which there's something I have to do....)

19th November 2013 - Lists.

Entry#1 - LISTS

Lists, whats first? Getting out of bed is the hardest thing to do. So soft, so warm, so don't leave me. But I did. Now here I am, in the car, driving the wife to work. Since My trip to Christchurch last week to visit family I have been reading Tim Ferris book '4 hour work week', one of the key principles he drives across is don't delegate, eliminate, stressing that we do we more than we have to in our lives rather than prioritizing. Which is a good thing, I needed to hear that and be aware of whats going on.  I am chasing way to many dreams with one arrow.  A car cuts in front of me and its turtle slow. I grit my teeth and smile. Life doesn't get any better.

Lunchtime. Skipped breakfast, so more like survival time. I should make a Sandwich, - I have a wife for that but she's at work. Lucky me, day off. Maybe I could cook some sausage rolls or fry some fish? I'm lazy, I can opener a can of spaghetti and meatballs and nuke it in my microwave. Lunchtime is going well until I inexplicably knock over my glass of water all over the keyboard, fearing a disaster, I yelp. But nothing happens. Just a mess to clean up. Ha. I smirk, breathing a sigh of relief. My keyboard is invincible.

I make a list of things to achieve today, trying to prioritize some sort of checklist to getting closer to living my dreams. Write script, pay IRD bill, work notes, ebook ideas, t shirt business plan. Whats that? Football on TV? I briefly get distracted by the FA cup and put a one euro bet on Barkley town. I generally put my money on the underdog if they go out with a heart of passion. Unless its Chelsea, than its always on Chelsea. I kill the TV then have a nap. (The one thing I somehow always manage to achieve on my days off.)

My afternoon goes like this. Load script, blog, Facebook, twitch, bbc, bwin, eminem, eminem, shares, tshirt business research, nunchaku tips, budget, facebook, hotmail. Check time, Oh whoops, it's time to pick up the wife. I leave the safety of home to bare teeth and fight traffic.

Crouching between a truck and a van I have some thoughts, GSP won his fight the other day -controversial Ok, we're past that, but when am I going to get back into it. I miss sparring. I look down where my abs should be. I bet Batman doesn't have this problem.

Football game tonight for my mixed futsal team 'Awesome united', named after me of course. I score 3 of our 6 winning goals. I am happy, I leave with a scratch on my eye, it seems not only were they wearing black, they were also undercover catwomen and catmen. Best game of the week so far.

Home time, tea. Maccas. My once-were-abs look up at me. Yes I know, shut up. We watch Modern family. Life lessons enjoyed, I send my family some banking tips as they ask me about some interest rates, send the wife to bed and begin tackling whats left of my list. Find wife a football team, check. Find travel and hotel booking quotes, check. Facebook, hotmail.

Its 2 am, and I still haven't done the first thing on my list, write my script. Screw it, there's always tomorrow (There it is! What my psychiatrist will say when I complain my dream never came true....)
